Internships
Richmond magazine accepts applications for unpaid editorial, marketing and photo internships in the spring (January through May), summer (June through August) and fall (September through December). The deadline for spring applications is Nov. 8; summer applications are due Feb. 1; and fall applications are due Aug. 8.
EDITORIAL
This is a great opportunity to go "behind the scenes" at a magazine while doing a little bit of everything, from writing short features, researching and fact-checking to helping out with photo shoots and events. Internships are not paid, but the interns will be acknowledged on the magazine's masthead, and we try to make sure that all of our interns leave with several published clips for their portfolios.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would be a journalism student with an interest in magazines who's willing to commit two to three days a week to the internship, for a total of about 10 hours a week. We prefer students who can receive college credit for the internship but will consider any candidate with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn more about magazine publishing and journalism.
Applying

Applicants should mail or email three to five published writing samples, a resume and a cover letter to:

Chad Anderson
Executive Editor
Richmond Magazine
2201 W. Broad St., Suite 105
Richmond, Va. 23220

If you have any questions, please call Chad Anderson at (804) 355-0111, ext. 319.

MARKETING
Interns will gain firsthand experience in the promotion of Richmond magazine. Interns may be asked to do research, assist in setting up and staffing promotional events, work with our circulation manager, and help out with other office duties.
Qualifications
A background in marketing, public relations, or communications; must be well-organized, reliable and resourceful; must be computer proficient in Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer. A three-month commitment of 20 hours minimum per month is required.
Applying

Interns must receive college credit and will be acknowledged in the magazine's masthead. If you're a quick learner, enjoy a fast pace, like to pitch in whenever and wherever, and can manage a variety of tasks while being diligent about the details, please mail, fax or e-mail your resume and cover letter to:

Devin Grimsley
Marketing and Circulation Director

Interns will assist with photo shoots, take photographs in both a studio setting and on location, and help with photo retouching and color correction.
