
Next week, Frostings joins the Short Pump scene as the area's newest gourmet bakery specializing in cupcakes. “We hope to open May 5, 6 or 7,” says owner Matt Fraker. In honor of Cinco de Mayo (Tuesday the fifth, for the two of you who don't already know), Frostings will offer a margarita-flavored cupcake for the entire week. The bakery’s signature creation, however, is the red velvet, and Fraker says he’s creating a Mother’s Day-themed offering just in time for the 10th. Although he has no formal culinary training (in fact, his professional background includes education and music), Fraker has loved working in the kitchen since he was a little kid, and he says he’s excited to transfer those life experiences into this new pursuit.
Regular hours for Frostings will be Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Before heading over next week, call to make sure they’ve opened their doors.
