Know any June brides? I’m one, and today I’m celebrating my anniversary. Wedding season is in full swing. I know of five big Richmond weddings just this weekend.

If you’re on the lookout for an out-of-the-ordinary wedding gift (that is, something not likely to be found on a traditional registry), you may want to consider this nifty idea: a felt appliqué Tie the Knot pillow ($146) from Ruby Home at the Shops at 5807.

Ruby Home is a new boutique in the Shops, conceived by sisters Leigh Johnson and Anne Brasfield. One already had a jewelry store there, called Rubyblu Jewels. Her earthy-chic jewelry’s still featured in the space, but it’s now enhanced with patterned acrylic trays, bright-yellow metal Peacock chairs (pictured, $538 each), colorful throws (pictured, $180) and more.

The Tie the Knot pillow has a certain cute factor for sure, but the bride and groom might also appreciate its eco-friendly roots. Designed by Alexandra Ferguson, the pillows in her line are handmade in New York using felt created from recycled plastic water bottles. The polyfill pillow insert is also made from recycled plastic.

Ruby Home carries two other pillows by this designer that are equally wedding-gift-ready options. One bears the letters “xoxo,” and the other boldly states L O V E. Both are $81.
