Annie Selke is coming to Richmond on Tuesday, and I’m super excited. Haven’t heard of Selke? She’s the design impresario behind Dash & Albert (who doesn’t love those rugs?) and Pine Cone Hill’s colorful cotton linens, pretty pajamas and beachy, graphic fabrics. She also has her own furniture line for Vanguard, Annie Selke Home.

Selke has a new book, Fresh American Spaces, and Williams & Sherrill is hosting a signing/meet and greet tomorrow from 3 to 7:30 p.m. (The shop, at 2003 Huguenot Road, carries all three of her lines.)

The book, Selke's first, is chock-full of wonderful — and, yes, fresh — decorating ideas. It focuses on five distinct American styles, what she calls Happy Preppy, Nuanced Neutral, Everyday Exuberance, Refined Romantic and Cultured Eclectic. Do any of those descriptions fit your preferred décor?

The book has great step-by-step how-tos that will help you punch up the five themed schemes. I need photos to bring it all together, and Fresh American Spaces has 400.

Williams & Sherrill has added some sizzle to the signing. Buy Selke’s book at the event and enter to win one of two $250 gift certificates for Dash & Albert rugs and Pine Cone Hill bedding. The store is also transformed for the holidays. (They spent all day Sunday readying.) All holiday items will be 15 percent off on Tuesday night.

(I can’t resist one last tidbit. After reading more about Selke’s background, I discovered that we went to the same high school. Turns out one of her early inspirations came from an old Colefax & Fowler wallpaper on the wall of her dorm room at Miss Porter’s School.)
