Keifer and Shawna Thompson (right) in Honduras
On Thursday afternoon, Keifer and Shawna Thompson, the married musicians behind award-winning country-music group Thompson Square, visited ChildFund International's West End headquarters. The Thompsons, who partnered with the nonprofit more than a year ago, were  in town for a show at Innsbrook After Hours later that night.

The singers met with ChildFund staffers to discuss their most recent trip to Honduras, one of the poorest countries in Latin America, where a quarter of the country’s 7.5 million people live off of just $1.25 a day. The Thompsons had just returned to the United States the day before from Honduras, where they met the child they sponsor and donated five computers to a school. They have plans to return, most likely on an annual basis.

As part of the charity’s LIVE! program, which asks performers to promote the sponsorship of ChildFund kids, the couple encourages their fans to participate, asking them to sponsor a child during the performance of “Glass," which Keifer referenced as their personal ChildFund theme song.

The couple hadn't heard of ChildFund until a member of the organization reached out to Thompson Square’s publicist in 2012, but they called the opportunity to participate in ChildFund's work a “no-brainer,” with Shawna describing their trips to Honduras as “heart-warming, rewarding, and humbling” experiences.
