The first Elby restaurant awards were given out on Feb. 12 at the Virginia Historical Society. Named for Master Chef Paul Elbling, who ran La Petite France for 30 years before he sold the restaurant in 2006, the awards ceremony was the first of its kind in the region and drew 350 attendees. Each category had four nominees selected by a panel of 25 food reviewers, writers, culinary professionals and culinary-society members. The winners were selected by another set of judges not invovled in the nominating process. (Those judges were not on staff at Richmond magazine.) Check out an event slideshow. The winners were:
