The mall isn't the only place offering shopping discounts this weekend. Here are a few events I've heard about around town.
Through Friday, Monkee's at 11709 W. Broad St. is hosting a Pre-Memorial Day Sale to help you prepare for weekend festivities. All shoes (excluding Jack Rogers) and clothing are 20 percent off, plus there's a newly stocked sale rack with 50 percent off.
Lex's of Carytown is clearing out some of the formal and cocktail inventory with dresses marked between 50 and 75 percent off — stop in to see the selection.
Also in Carytown, Ciao is offering 20 percent off clothing, bags, shoes and scarves and 10 percent off jewelry all week long. I scored some super pretty, dangly emerald-toned earrings there for around $20 with the discount.
Happy shopping!

Call your gal pals now: Levys is hosting a Girls' Night Out event tomorrow (Wednesday) night. Stop in from 4 to 7 p.m. to get the first glimpse at a Trina Turk trunk show. (Click here to read an interview with the designer, who visited Richmond earlier this month).
The exclusive show at Levys will feature a wide range of the California-based queen of ready-to-wear's summer fashions, which feature lots of fun prints that channel the sunny West Coast, plus there'll be snacks and libations while you shop. If you can't make it tomorrow, the trunk show continues through Saturday, so stop in during regular business hours to browse.

It's another weekend that's chock full of shopping events. Here's the low-down.
Starting today and running through Sunday, Halcyon is hosting a rummage sale. Clothing and accessories the shop wants to move will be marked 75 percent off the original prices and sold on the sidewalk, with new items added every few hours. There’ll also be vintage housewares for sale, food trucks and discounted records from Deep Groove for 50 cents each. The shopping will take place today and tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Part of the proceeds will be donated to The Friends of James River Park.
This Saturday, Elements, a new beauty boutique in Carytown, is hosting a Grand Opening Mother’s Day Spectacular. There will be plenty of samples, door prizes, hand massages and free wrapping for Mother’s Day gifts. Sounds like a perfect time to check out this new store.

Also on Saturday, Quirk Gallery is hosting "Arrowed: A Non Traditional Bridal Boutique" from noon to 3 p.m. Lots of local vendors will be on-site with samples and examples of their work that can make your wedding unique. Some of the companies you’ll find there include King of Pops, Fete Studio event planning, Amanda Robinson of Sweet Fix, Strawberry Fields florist, Richmond Threadlab ties, and more.

A Suzi Roher Italian scarf
Designer Suzi Roher’s handmade belts have been coveted throughout the fashion industry for more than two decades. Now, she’s decided to expand her accessories repertoire with luxurious Italian scarves — and she’ll be showing them in person this Thursday and Friday at Frances Kahn.
The scarves are all handmade from Italian cashmere, silk and modal yarns. Instead of buying colored yarns, Roher buys neutral yarns and dyes them in Italian mills to create distinct, deep colors. Each scarf undergoes a special dyeing and washing treatment that leaves it airy with rich coloring. Stop in to meet the designer and see them in person.

Yes, that's right, starting tonight (Thursday, May 2) you'll be able to try on the super-stylish, all-the-cool-kids-have-them Warby Parker frames right in Carytown. This 10th Warby Parker showroom to open in the United States will be right inside Need Supply Co. and will feature the entire Warby Parker collection. The showroom will open with a party tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. There'll be handcrafted cocktails by Saison, food from Goatocado, cones from Mister Softee and music from DJ Robot E. Lee. Plus, you'll be able to enter to win free frames and Need Supply Co. gift cards.
In total, the boutique will feature more than 100 different frames with both acetate and titanium. If you bring in your prescription, you'll be able to order your glasses on-site and they'll ship to you directly from Warby Parker, or if you want to purchase non-prescription shades or sunglasses, you can buy them on-site and take them with you.
