Local longtime interior decorator and event planner Cheryl Richardson-Durham is offering a DIY decorating class this Saturday, Aug. 25, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Askews Decorating Center on 1108 E. Nine Mile Road.

Richardson-Durham will share secrets about how to decorate your home like a pro would. I caught up with her on the phone today, and she detailed some of the topics she plans to cover during the class, which costs $25 to attend. Those topics include how to design a furniture plan, how to select paint colors and flooring, and how to attack de-cluttering.

“It’s all about learning how to give your home a finished, polished look,” she says.

Richardson-Durham opened her business, Cheryl’s Decorative Touch, three months ago. She’s been helping clients with design work, upholstery and window treatments for many years.
