Seeing all the "London Calling" commercials (featuring the iconic song by the Clash) showcasing U.S. athletes and fetching city scenery have me more excited than ever for the Olympics.
I was super excited, too, when I came across this colorful – and certainly topical – “London” fabric at u-fab this week. Featuring a detailed map of central London with the Thames snaking though in blue, it’s fun to spot Underground stops, London landmarks (my beloved Victoria & Albert Museum is one) and city sections from Westminster to Chelsea, among others.
Priced at $34.99 a yard (discounted from its maker’s suggested $48.99), wouldn’t it be smashing to make a table runner or tablecloth from a 54-inch-wide piece just in time for the events?
U-fab also offers tons of complementing fabrics (pictured) that could make any London-themed pillow or upholstered ottoman even more fabulous. I'm an especially big fan of the red Greek key pattern.
When you go, ask for Mariah Martin. She’s u-fab’s textile manager, and she always has tons of creative ideas for projects with fab fabrics, including custom upholstery options galore.
U-fab is at 106 S. Robinson St. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Shop until 8 p.m. on Thursdays, as well.
